There’s no doubt that this year so far has reinforced just how crucial our supply chains are and the importance of keeping them moving in the most testing of times. Having captured many of IAG Cargo’s major moments from 2020 here on the magazine already, we’re taking a look back at some of our most-read stories from the past six months.
FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS

Our furry companions are counted as some of our most precious cargo and some of our readers’ favourite subjects. In the age of COVID-19, keeping our AVI product in the sky has meant that we’ve been able to ensure that these four-legged family members have made it home, too, with the help of charities and organisations on the ground. Our most-read story about re-pet-riating animals of US Peace Corp Volunteers evacuated from Botswana has already been read 12% more than the second most popular article published this year, and is followed closely by the 50 rescue dogs and cats that took flight from Larnaca in April.
A GREATER MISSION

Vaccines and life-saving medicine are just some of the critical and time-sensitive shipments that make up our day-to-day at IAG Cargo, but with the onset of COVID-19, we inherited another great responsibility when we became a crucial partner in the fight against the outbreak. Our readers followed as we transported thousands of boxes of PPE to hospitals and medical facilities in need across the world, and about our creation of a special medical air corridor between Spain, China and Japan to open up access to heroic frontline workers – with 1 in 5 visitors to the magazine reading one of these articles.
INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS

Boundary-pushing ideas rule the roost at IAG Cargo, so faced with the challenge of maximising available space across our global flight network, no feat has been too great for our dedicated and hard-working teams. Among all the new ventures for our operational workers highlighted on our magazine, readers were most interested in stories that included shifting mail bags into overhead lockers, strapping freight to passenger seats and removing seats altogether to convert passenger aircraft into freighters.
MAJOR MILESTONES

The past six months have given us tighter deadlines than ever before. Our third most-loved story of this year documented the way we stood up an entirely new operation out of Beijing to provide Ireland with much-needed PPE in just seven days, laying the framework for countless other missions. After initiating cargo-only flights on our passenger aircraft across the globe in March in response to the pandemic, we also recently published a piece celebrating our 100th scheduled cargo-only journey from India which has already become one of our top ten articles of 2020.
Another highlight for IAG Cargo, the invite-only tier of our award-winning loyalty scheme has just launched. Find out more about this next step in loyalty with us.
