What’s in the box? Our top beauty shipments

From mint oil to Botox, last month the beauty and wellbeing boom went well and truly global. Peep into one of our recent cargo holds and you’ll find enough products to keep women, and men, around the world groomed to the nines.

With the US heatwave showing no signs of easing off, East Coasters are snapping up cooling and refreshing products to help combat the heat. Heralded as the new travel beauty essential, a whopping 11-tonne shipment of mint oil was sent to New York last week. Combined with the 11-tonne delivery of weight loss pills from Milan, Americans are looking to get their beach bodies ready this summer. No surprise when the US market for weight loss pills is worth US$6.4 billion according to a 2016 survey by market research company IRI – almost as much as the market share for pain relief and first aid medication combined.

Continuing the trend for non-surgical body maintenance, we shipped a significant amount of Botox from South Korea to Brazil last week using Constant Climate, IAG Cargo’s temperature-controlled product. Alongside their cosmetic use, Botox injections are now FDA-approved as one of the safest and most effective standards of care for excessive perspiration. Brazil follows the US closely as the country with the most cosmetic procedures per capita, with South Korea coming in third place, with more than one third of the world’s cosmetic surgery procedures currently taking place in the three countries alone.
