Our fifth Cargo Live episode and first one of 2022 uncovered the latest insights and trends in the logistics industry, the power of digitalisation, and how to best adapt to new consumer demands. The episode featured expert speakers, including:
- John Cheetham, Chief Commercial Officer, IAG Cargo
- Ashwani Nath, Global Head of E-Channel Solutions, GEODIS
- Simson Demmer, VP of Partnerships, cargo.one
- Ken de Witt Hamer, CEO, WorldACD
Here, we reveal three essential take-outs from the fifth episode in our series…

Ashwani Nath, Global Head of E-Channel Solutions, GEODIS
“What’s the use of a great purchasing experience if the personalised delivery experience doesn’t take place? This is where logistics has to play an extremely large role. If brands serve the e-shopper, what do they need to do?
The desire of brands is to try and locate their product in multiple locations all over the continent as close to the final e-shopper as possible.”

Simson Demmer, VP of Partnerships, cargo.one
“We’re very excited to announce our partnership with IAG Cargo. cargo.one is a free online marketplace to search for and book cargo. Since 2017, we’ve been part of the digitalisation journey. It’s as simple as booking your next holiday on Kayak.
Within seconds, you get a screen showing offers from leading carriers that are instantly bookable and confirmable like IAG Cargo. One click later, you’re ready and, this being online, you can also change, update, or track your booking 24/7.”

Ken de Witt Hamer, CEO, WorldACD
“We all know that in 2020, with COVID, the industry volumes went down significantly. Our data showed a decrease of minus 14 per cent. In 2021, the industry bounced back with a year over year increase of plus 19 per cent – a significant percentage.
So when you compare 2019, the last pre-COVID year with 2021, we see an increase of plus 3 per cent. So that’s really a recovery, at least in terms of weights and volumes. Now, that’s a worldwide picture. Various regions perform differently, countries within regions have their own dynamics, and the same is true for different product categories.”
A huge thank you to all our speakers and listeners. We hope you’ll tune in for our next episode in June. In the meantime, you can discover more insights from Cargo Live here.
